Gairloch, Poolewe and Loch Ewe area

Other Places in Scotland

Gairloch and Loch Ewe Action Forum community website has everything you could possibly want to know about the area.

You will find different parts of this community website in different web locations, however the "official" website is now called www.highlandwelcome.co.uk and I think it is a great name.

Gairloch is where I spent many holidays as a youngster and it is a brilliant holiday centre. If you want to be in the centre of wild Scotland then Poolewe has the edge over Gairloch (in my opinion) and Aultbea and Loch Ewe areas are simply marvelous.

The "Na Fir Chlis" at Opinan website is one of my favourite websites on the area around Wester Ross. It has a lot of local information on the area, with extensive information on hill walking and mountains in this area of Scotland. I hate to say it, however this featured website is way better than my own with great photographs and expert information on the area. Visit it and fall in love with the Scottish Highlands.

Bed and Breakfast in Aultbea at Rose Cottage. we have passed this cottage while on holiday several times - it looks lovely.

Sail Mhor Croft Hostel is in Camusnagaul, close to Dundonnell and within walking distance of Ullapool (if you are fit and plan for a days walk).

The hostel has low cost internet access available to the public (please ask first) and the 16 bed accommodation is excellent. The hostel overlooks Little Loch Broom and you are only a couple of minutes from Maggie's Tea Room and Craft Shop for lunches and afternoon teas.

Caledonia Hilltreks is a professional hill walking guide business run by Lindsay Boyd - he also has an excellent newsletter that you can request through his website - well worth a read. For expert information on hillwalking around Scotland this is one of the websites to visit. The best and safest way for visitors to Scotland who also want to enjoy the Scottish mountains and climb or "bag" some Munros is to use a professional guide and you will find Lindsay's daily and weekly rates are very reasonable for individuals or groups.

The Ullapool Tourism and Business Association has a very professional website on Ullapool. Well worth a look.

This is our own Ullapool page - lots of useful links to information on Ullapool and the surrounding area.

Badrallach has a range of excellent holiday accommodation, they are just across the water from Camusnagaul.

The accommodation includes a cottage, campsite, bothy and bed and breakfast.

The location is 8 miles from Dundonnell and you have the hotel and the nearby Maggie's Tea Room and Craft Shop for lunches and teas.

For Fort William and surrounding area this is an excellent tourism and business website. They also have great Scottish pictures on the photo gallery.

The Internet Guide to Scotland. You must have seen this website listed in Google and Yahoo, an absolute gem of a website. If you want to find out about Scotland then this website should be on the top of your list.
